| | Elk River Area School District This is a student to student school-based mentoring program designed as a class which can be taken by mentors for class credit. The Mentors go through a four-week training course in order to develop necessary mentoring skills. They are then matched with students from the local jr. high and elementary schools whom they will mentor for the entire school year. Mentors receive on-going training and support throughout the school year.

The tutor/mentor program connects students with caring community volunteers to help aid their learning and develop positive relationships and community connections with people from the greater community. |
| | Page Education Foundation Adults mentors are partnered with college students of color. They encourage the students in a service project with K-8th grade children, which is required in exchange for their college scholarship. Adult mentors also encourage the college students in their own studies. |
| | Salvation Army, The, Project Break-Through Project Break-Through is a unique, family-centered mentoring program which works to improve the self-sufficiency of the participant families it serves. The program matches families trying to break out of the poverty cycle with volunteers who are willing to support a family in their self-suffiiciency goals. Teams of mentors are assigned to each participant family, which provides the family with multiple friends, role models and connections to the community, while providing volunteers with the opportunity to impact a family. Common self-sufficiency goals include job, home and transportation searching; budgeting; enhancing parenting skills; developing study habits; and strengthening boundaries and relationships. |
