MythBusters kick-off National Mentoring Month in Minnesota
January marks the 8th Annual National Mentoring Month (NMM), a high-profile media awareness campaign designed to drive mentor recruitment and help close the mentoring gap. In Minnesota, the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota (MPM) leads the statewide campaign. This year, all activities, media and advertising promotions for NMM will focus around mentor recruitment and business engagement with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to expose young people to STEM careers and provide resources to mentoring programs, mentors, mentees and businesses. MPM is proud to present this year’s special guests:
On Saturday, January 5th, Jamie Hyneman (Host) and Grant Imahara (Design Team Member) from the popular MythBusters show on the Discovery Channel kicked off National Mentoring Month with more than 1200 mentors and mentees from around the state at the Science Museum of Minnesota and St. Paul RiverCentre. The matches explored the exhibits at the Science Museum, engaged in hands-on STEM exhibits at the RiverCentre and were treated to a Q & A presentation with the MythBusters.
Thank you to all the mentoring programs and matches who participated in the events!
