The purpose is to develop a friendship with the young child which will enhance his/her sel-esteem and self-concept. Suitable adults are paired with children who need a positive role model so necessary to meet the need of youth for acceptance, understanding, and guidance.

 Northern Lights Council Boy Scouts of America
The purpose of the Boy Scouts to instill values in young people that better prepare them to make ethical choices over their life time to achieve their full potential. The values we strive to instill are based on scout oath and law.

 Page Education Foundation
Adults mentors are partnered with college students of color. They encourage the students in a service project with K-8th grade children, which is required in exchange for their college scholarship. Adult mentors also encourage the college students in their own studies.
