Mentor Connection is an advanced level program available to seniors at Marshall High School. This year long program offers an opportunity for the students to explore an area under the direction of a mentor. The students spend the semester in in-depth study. The Peer Helping program is a dynamite way to help students who at this moment in time are at risk. It's being a big brother to a little boy whose Dad is still in Kenya. It's easing a child from debilitating shyness or listening to one who has lost a parent to death or divorce. It's working with students who are the bullies or the ones being bullied to improve social skills and cope. It's sometimes hard work and a childs' situation can tear at your heart. Adults mentors are partnered with college students of color. They encourage the students in a service project with K-8th grade children, which is required in exchange for their college scholarship. Adult mentors also encourage the college students in their own studies. | |
