Kandiyohi County 4-H Community Club Program
4-H is the youth development programing conducted by the University of Minnesota Extension Service. 4-H programs are delivered through a variety of methods: community club settings, after school programs, school enrichment programs, site based groups, camps, etc. Professional leadership is given by Extension Staff of the University of Minnesota and the U.S Department of Agriculture. In 4-H clubs, young people share, grow and learn together in various projects, events and activities in informal situations under the guidance of their families and other screened volunteer adult leader/mentors. Members can choose projects that fit them and the places where they live (town or country). Group activities and events such as trips, camps, fairs, trainings, and conferneces provide additional learning experiences and opportunities. 4-H clubs are open to all youth and adults regardless of their ethnic background, race, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, martial status, disability, public assistance status or sexual orientation. Most clubs have meetings for the entire membership once a month. During these meetings, decisions are made about group-sponsored activities such as communty service efforts, project and fair opportunities. Check with the staff listed above for the availability of other volunteer/mentor opportunities in other 4-H delivery modes in your county

 Lend A Hand Mentor Program

The Lend A Hand Mentor Program is a year round volunteer based program that matches volunteers from the community and matches them with kids ages 6-16. These kids have been referred to the program by parents, child guides, social services, or anyone who believes a certain youth could benefit from having a positive role model in their life. Our program does not limit referral sources, however we do need parental permission, cooperation and support for each individual match to work.

 Page Education Foundation
Adults mentors are partnered with college students of color. They encourage the students in a service project with K-8th grade children, which is required in exchange for their college scholarship. Adult mentors also encourage the college students in their own studies.
