Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities
We have been matching young people with caring, adult mentors for 88 years. Our mission is to enrich the lives of young people through one-to-on friendships. Mentoring a young person is one of the most rewarding things that we can do to make our communities stronger by giving our kids positive reinforcement and helping them grow into more engaged citizens. All it takes is getting together with a Little Brother or Sister to do things you both enjoy. The young people in BBBS’ programs don’t care what you do; they just want to have fun and maybe learn a thing or two from a consistent, caring adult.

 Salvation Army, The, Project Break-Through
Project Break-Through is a unique, family-centered mentoring program which works to improve the self-sufficiency of the participant families it serves. The program matches families trying to break out of the poverty cycle with volunteers who are willing to support a family in their self-suffiiciency goals. Teams of mentors are assigned to each participant family, which provides the family with multiple friends, role models and connections to the community, while providing volunteers with the opportunity to impact a family. Common self-sufficiency goals include job, home and transportation searching; budgeting; enhancing parenting skills; developing study habits; and strengthening boundaries and relationships.
